SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
Preparing content to be found and cited in AI answers such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)

UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface)
How people experience a website, and the visual elements they interact with.
E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness)
Criteria in Google's guidelines for evaluating content quality.
LLM (Large Language Model)
The type of AI behind ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.
LLMO (Large Language Model Optimization)
Preparing information so language models retrieve it and attribute it to the right source.
RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
When an AI retrieves information from external sources before writing its answer.
Entity SEO
Work so Google and AI recognize a business, person or place as one entity with consistent information.
Knowledge Graph
Google's knowledge base connecting people, companies, places and concepts.
GBP (Google Business Profile)
A business's profile on Google Maps and Search.
Local Pack
The map block with a few businesses shown for local searches.
NAP (Name, Address, Phone)
Keeping these the same everywhere helps Google recognize the business.
CID
A numeric identifier for a place on Google Maps, commonly read in the industry as Customer ID.
LSA (Local Services Ads)
Google's paid local services ads, available only in some countries and categories.
GSC (Google Search Console), GA4 (Google Analytics 4), GTM (Google Tag Manager)
Google tools for search performance, analytics and tag management.
CWV (Core Web Vitals)
Google's page experience metrics, currently LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), INP (Interaction to Next Paint) and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift). INP replaced FID (First Input Delay) in March 2024.
CTR (Click-Through Rate) and CVR (Conversion Rate)
The share of people who click after seeing a result, and the share of visitors who take the desired action.
DA, PA, DR, UR, TF and CF
Domain and page metrics from third-party tools (Moz, Ahrefs, Majestic). They are not Google metrics.
PBN (Private Blog Network)
A network of sites built to create artificial links, against Google's spam policies.
UGC (User Generated Content)
Content created by users, such as reviews and comments.
